At a time of significant changes in the field of communications and the transmission of information, the press as a whole is experiencing difficulties and faces criticisms that are not lost on anyone. The time oscillates between disreputation of journalists, accusations of "fake news" and threats in the mission or even in the very existence of the media, on the one hand, and on the other hand the observation of a degradation of the quality information for the benefit of the quantity and speed of the news feed.
"Art and the press: free exchanges" focuses on the artistic treatment of this essential theme: for a long time already, many artists have seized this phenomenon. They used the press as a support or material in their creations. They integrated the press phenomenon in their artistic approach, in their reflection. They turned it into a subject, an artistic object or modified, altered or even destroyed. Depending on the message sought, the press, sometimes diverted from its primary function, becomes the founder of the work.
The approach chosen by the Foundation and carried by the curator of the exhibition Guillaume de Sardes confronts us with the various roles that the press can play in the artistic creation and the life of the artists, as well as with the artists' questions about the setting growing cause of the credibility of the means of communication.
