Yves Klein Body, Colour and the Immaterial

MUMOK - Museum moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien, Vienna, Austria

The subtitle of the exhibition Yves Klein: Body, Color, Intangible focuses on the aspects of Yves Klein's work which reveal it close to the eyes of today's artists, prefiguring conceptual art and performance. The physical involvement of the body is central to the work. The color according to Yves Klein is a link between the body and the immaterial; a true spiritual force, it transforms the atmosphere, life itself into a work of art. It comes in three iconic tones that punctuate the exhibition, guided by the words of Yves Klein: blue, gold and pink. In counterpoint, exhibitions of the void, performances where the work disappears, ephemeral sculptures, sound works and architectural projects are all variations of the immaterial which is for Yves Klein the essential experience of art.
