L’expérience de la couleur

Musée national de céramique, Sèvres, France

The experience of Color addresses the fundamental question of the perception of colors by artists, from an essentially sensory angle. Source of pleasure, symbol of power, catalyst of memory, color is for the artist a powerful tool that affects our emotions, far beyond our thoughts.
The experience of color - a 40th anniversary exhibition of the Center Pompidou - invites the visitor to experience color-matter, color-space, light-color and color-gesture.

Transverse and resolutely contemporary vision of color in art and creation, the exhibition's curator, Frédéric Bodet, goes beyond the mention of the only "Sèvres Laboratory". He extends it widely to international ceramics facing other areas of art (painting, graphic arts, design, glass, textiles, photography, cosmetics, gastronomy). The works of great French and international ceramists, historical and contemporary dialogue with the decisive contributions of visual artists and designers considered as key figures of color in the twentieth century as Yves Klein.

The 400 works presented vibrate and interact in a whirlwind of shapes, textures and colorful materials.
