Fontana, ZERO and the results

Museum Frieder Burda, Baden-Baden, Germany

The Frieder Burda Museum presented a cabinet exhibition on the ZERO artist group. The group founded by Heinz Mack and Otto Piene in 1957/58, which Günther Uecker had been part of since 1961, has developed optimistic visions and innovative concepts to overcome traditional genres and techniques. Unusual materials, such as synthetic resin, aluminum, glass and nails, were arranged in monochrome objects, fire was used as a visual tool for the vibration of smoke images and reflective mirrors were combined. In addition to the principles of dynamic image such as grid, structure, sequence and rhythm, light and movement have become important design tools. Spectators and participants of international ZERO exhibitions such as Adolf Luther or Christian Megert are also featured.

In addition, the exhibition features works by Lucio Fontana and Yves Klein, who were not only the inspiration for ZERO artists, but also the next generation of artists.
