Relief Portrait of Arman (PR 1), 1962
It was in 1947 that Yves Klein met Armand Fernandez, the future Arman, at the Nice Judo Club. Very quickly, the two young men became friends. They shared a passion for philosophy and spirituality.
On the beach of Nice, the three friends chose to "share the world": to Arman goes the earth and its riches, to Claude Pascal the air, and to Yves the sky and its infinity.
In January 1962, Yves Klein made the Relief Portrait of Arman in plaster resin covered with synthetic resin and blue pigment.
