Manifeste pour Yves Klein

Alain Jouffroy

Alain Jouffroy was the friend of painter Yves Klein. The very personal testimony he brings to this book is, in this respect, valuable: it reveals the often obscured foundations of Klein's Art, inseparable from a deep knowledge of Japan, judo, certain spiritual filiations, and even a political hope of carrying out a "blue revolution".
This text is part of a "manifesto" by Alain Jouffroy, where he defends his own conception of art and its relationship with the lived world.

Alain Jouffroy is one of the rare people to have personally known Yves Klein, born in 1928 like him, and died in full youth, in 1962. His testimony, as such, is precious: it reveals the often hidden foundations of the art of Klein, inseparable from deep knowledge of Japan, judo, certain spiritual lineages, and even a political hope of carrying out a "blue revolution". Alain Jouffroy tells us about Klein in his art criticism but also as a friend, as he goes on, "on doves' feet" to try to restore the presence of a deep, idealistic artist. and free. He contests the passage of certain lawsuit made to the artist about his political orientations, he recounts the story of a lunch between the two friends at La Coupole, he gives life to the man disappeared half a century ago.

In addition to this invitation in the living intimacy of the painter, this text is also part of the line of "manifestos" Alain Jouffroy, where he defends his own conception of art and its relationship with the world lived. The author:
