Catalog of the exhibition "On Fire", curated by Bruno Corà and organized by the Giorgio Cini Foundation in collaboration with Tornabuoni Art, dedicated to a nucleus of artists and the works they created using the most evocative of nature's primary elements: fire.
The book follows the path of the exhibition, focusing on the work of some of the international masters of the second half of the twentieth century who dedicated their research to this element: Alberto Burri, Yves Klein, Arman, Pier Paolo Calzolari, Jannis Kounellis and Claudio Parmiggiani.
The flame, combustion and its residues (smoke, ashes): these are the variations through which the destructive-creative duality of fire is studied.
An important photographic device brings a precious testimony of the different approaches of the artists, through rare shots of the masters at work and their works: from Burri's combustions to the use of the gas flame by Klein, Arman and Kounellis, passing by the smoke used by Calzolari and Parmiggiani.
